Job Description:
A company is looking for an Inpatient Hospital Coder.
Key Responsibilities
Abstract relevant and accurate diagnosis and procedural codes from
various hospital case types, including complex medical/surgical
inpatient cases
Utilize hospital encoding systems and resources effectively for
data abstraction and interpretation
Perform additional duties as assigned, which may include training
other staff members
Required Qualifications and Education
Associates Degree or two years of college coursework in Health
Information Management (HIM) or equivalent work experience
Minimum of 5 years of hospital-based coding experience
Minimum of 2 years of hospital-based coding experience at the
organization for internal applicants
One of the following credentials is required: CCS, CCS-P, COC, CPC,
or CIC
Preferred: RHIT or RHIA Certified through AHIMA
